Capital of the Guangdong Province and a lively and prosperous city, Guangzhou sits on the south China coastline bordered by the Pearl River. A bit further from the city, Lotus Hill sits around 7 miles from the city center and is one of Chinas most famous landmarks. The landscape was formed from quarry works of ancient Chinese dynasties from as far back as 206 BC. Today it leaves behind stunning and varied scenery of red sandstone, forests, grottos and towering cliffs. Visitors can tour the Lotus City and see the largest gold statue in the world, the statue of the Goddess of Mercy which stands over 120 feet tall.
